In the second quarter of 2021, Herbalife Nutrition recorded year-over-year net sales growth in five of its six global regions, with four of them exceeding 20% growth. India gained great traction in the second quarter, expanding by 93 percent compared to the same quarter in 2020 and contributing to the Asia Pacific region’s substantial 38 percent rise.
The company’s net income for the quarter was $144.2 million, up 25% from the second quarter of 2020, while net sales were $1.6 billion, up 15% from the same period last year. This is the company’s largest quarterly net sales performance ever.
At $262.1 million, adjusted EBITDA for the second quarter of 2021 shattered company records and was the highest quarterly adjusted EBITDA in company history.
“Our adjusted EBITDA of $262 million in the second quarter was a record for the second quarter in a row, resulting in over $500 million in adjusted EBITDA created in the first half of the year,” said Alex Amezquita, Herbalife Nutrition’s Chief Financial Officer.
Nutrition product demand fueled double-digit growth in more than 50 of the company’s markets. The Energy, Sports, and Fitness category increased by 45 percent, while focused nutrition increased by 19 percent and core weight management products increased by 12 percent.
“For the fourth quarter in a row, we produced double-digit net sales growth,” stated John Agwunobi, Chairman and CEO of Herbalife Nutrition. “All three of our major product categories climbed by double digits, with the Energy, Sports, and Fitness category growing by 45 percent year over year.”
